The Wild One Choc Lit Coorah Creek Book 2 eBook Janet Gover

Perfect! Simply perfect!
This is rural romance just how it should be.

The story occurs in the outback town of Coorah Creek where everyone is just like family.
Dan has moved to the nearby Tyangi Park, as park ranger, to escape the nightmares that started after his tour of duty in Iraq. He prefers to live his life alone, cut off from everyone. That is until photographer Rachel Quinn arrives in town.

Gover focuses on PTSD in veterans and civilians, it is encouraging to know that this is being explored and made more open, also the culling of wild animals in our national parks. This is a very emotive topic and it is dealt with knowledgeably.

The story centres around four main characters of Dan, Quinn, Justin and Carrie each have their own separate stories but come together in a common cause of saving the wild brumbies. As they work together to save the brumbies they also help to heal each other.

The characters were easy going and immediately likeable. I was pulled into the story from the beginning. The writing and the dialogue was all so natural it flowed beautifully.

I loved the men in this story. They were sensitive but this didn’t detract from their masculinity.
I was delighted that Quinn was a knitter (something that is usually portrayed as a bit geeky) and used it as therapy to ease her heartache.

I’m not a country girl at heart but the vivid descriptions made me want to grab my swag and go out there and sleep under the stars.

You don’t have to be a horse lover to be swept up in this heart-warming outback romance.

Even though this is book two in the Coorah Creek series the story stood well on its own with book one The Flight to Coorah Creek focusing on a different set of characters.

The Wild One Choc Lit Coorah Creek Book 2 eBook Janet Gover Reviews

I have just swam through my NetGalley ARC of "The Wild Ones" by Janet Gover. I received the ebook in exchange for an honest-to-goodness review.

If you love horses and the Australian outback and a little bit of love, you'll enjoy this book.

Although this is the second installment in the Coorah Creek series, this is most definitely a standalone novel—which is a huge plus for me. After reading "The Wild One," I am going to be looking for the first Coorah Creek novel.

Quick Summary
Quinn (aka Rachel to her folks) is a professional photog. She is traveling through to the outskirts of Australian civilization to get the perfect, untapped shot. She comes to a town called Coorah Creek. Here, she meets a very interesting character, the owner of the local diner, Trish. (Trish is actually a character I would have liked to see a little more of.) Trish names a local national park that Quinn should go check out in order to get her perfect shots. The park ranger there is Dan. Well, Quinn makes it to the park and has a very original introduction with Dan—it was probably the perfect way to accurately get to know another's character.

Next, we meet Carrie, a retired by injury jockey, and Justin, who owns a stud farm close by. Carrie and Justin are integral parts to the success of the story. But, I was more interested in Dan and Quinn. I get slightly aggravated by more than one romance to follow at a time.

The rest of the story shows the foursome coming together to help save the brumby herd at the national park. See, Dan has been given the order to kill the brumbies, but with Quinn's insistence, he finds an alternative with the help of Carrie and Justin.

Carrie, Dan, and Quinn each have an obstacle to overcome. They need to let go of something in their past and move forward. Janet does a great job as an author of showing the character growth in this aspect.

Without giving anything away, I will have to end here. I hate spoilers. )

Take care!
I read many books and some I rush through reading. I have found that the books published by Choc Lit need to be savored like their symbol of a fine piece of dark chocolate. The Wild One by Janet Gover fits their high standard to a T.

I discovered the Coorah Creek Series a bit backwards reading the third book in the series first. From there I knew I wanted to read all. While each seem to take place in the amazing world of the Australian Outback, each focus in different. This makes it very easy to read them in any order. With the one dangerous aspect - that you will fall in love with this small town and want to return there again and again.

In Book 2 of the series, The Wild One four characters work together for a common good. Dan, Quinn, Justin and Carrie want to remove brumbies in the area to a safe place. Along the way is government meddling, help from others and some romance. Not wanting to give too much away, each reader should get to delight in the story themselves.

What I will say it is written so that you feel as if you are right there experiencing the same as the characters. Australia is a place I would dearly love to visit, now thanks to Janet Gover I feel as if I have. I can’t wait to go return there again through one of her books.
